From Silver Surfer: Parable, the book that introduced to me to the work of Moebius, aka Jean Giraud, who passed away today.
I’m ashamed to recite this experience but I remember seeing Crimson Tide and I recall that ridiculous scene where Denzel is reprimanding an officer over fighting with another shipmate. The fight is over who does the better Silver Surfer, Kirby or Moebius, and Denzel sides with the officer on Kirby. At the time, I had just read Parable and, well, I had no idea who Kirby was so I took great issue with that scene and this is probably why I think Crimson Tide is a dumb movie.
(What do you want me to say? Kirby wasn’t making comics when I started reading).
